About Me

I am seeking a literary agent to publish my YA novel, a contemporary boy book with a historical twist. I have passed out my manuscript to several teacher friends for objective feedback from their eighth graders, and have received many positive reviews, as well as requests for a sequel. Any helpful suggestions, criticism, etc., would be greatly appreciated.

I Am Looking For

I would like to meet agented/published authors who can share good suggestions or helpful hints, and agents/editors who might be interested in reading my manuscript. If I get published, I would be interested in meeting marketers/publicists, too.

My Preferences

Hoping to make a variety of connections to enhance the experience of getting published.

Thanks, Cate - my goals are low, so I should have a good time: 1. Smile and look friendly. 2. Don't spill food on my clothes. I should be okay. :)

Good point about the bookmark snagging in a pocket or falling off. Annoying an agent is not on my list of things to do. I'll stash a few in my bag, just in case. Thanks you two, just the feedback I needed. more...

My First Query: Feedback Requested

I always put the title/genre in the subject line of my email query, then mention it again in the last paragraph.

Kid's Mystery Novel Query Letter

You might also want to say something in the last paragraph like, "This novel would appeal to readers of The Red Pyramid" (recent popular kid book involving Egyptian gods/goddesses, written by the same author as more...

Lands End - New for members who have been helping me

I like what Deborah suggested about having the whole camp experience told in letters to the friend. That would make the intro more meaningful, and the ending of Laura coming home after an experience which was more...
