About Me

After a few detours and a failed (though almost successful) attempt at trying to convince myself that I didn't want to write, I capitulated about six years ago and now I am on my 6th and final (my friends are so relieved!) revision...final in the sense that in my mind it will be ready to send out and see if anyone else wants to read it. The title is "Nobody: An Autobiography."

Some writers who have had a deep impact on me are: George Sand, Dostoevsky, Hermann Hesse, D.H. Lawrence, Henry Miller, Anais Nin, JD Salinger, Nancy Huston, Christian Bobin, Anne Michaels and Nina Bouraoui. Some poets are Whitman, Rilke, e e cummings, Anne Michaels. Of course there are so many others but those are the first that come to mind so they must have had the most impact.

Not being a published writer, hence not knowing whether others will want to read what I write, my goals extend no further than wanting to write. I know now that if I don't write I don't breathe.

I Am Looking For

To be honest I have no idea. I don't know many writers/authors or publishing professionals and so I may not be interested in meeting any of them or I may love knowing every one of them. I am someone who does what I do because I love it, because it feels necessary, because it makes me feel more alive. Perhaps it is like that Auden quote that goes something like "Chose a job you love, and you will never have to work a day in your life." That is the kind of person I would like to meet, someone who doesn't do what they do solely for the money but mostly because they love what they do. And also someone who appreciates the art of writing as much or a lot more than the business of writing.

I'm sorry. I've never done this before so I don't know. It's like after having just met someone and they want to know how long you are going to love them!
